I am an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, and sound with a focus in forging a connection between the viewer and forest ecosystems. My art practice is based in Deep Ecology, the environmental philosophy that considers all living things as having inherent worth and being connected by a complex set of relationships. My abstract painting sculptures of decaying trees, burls, and fungi invite the viewer to physically shift their viewpoint and explore closer.

My practice is research-based, and I create art as a way of working through and passing on what I’ve learned and experienced relating to the forest. My goal for my work is for viewers to open their minds to the possibility of seeing forests as a web of interconnected relationships. My work offers contemporary modes for raising individual awareness of forest ecosystems and the local environment. My work is meant to encourage viewers to slow down, observe closely, question, relearn, and become more engaged with their local environment.
